Yes, there is a 50% non-refundable retainer due upon signing the client agreement. This allows us to decline potential future clients wanting to book your time slot and devote our attention to you, ensuring that your ceremony is everything you want it to be.
1. Both Must Appear Together | Both parties must be present at the Monterey County Clerk’s Office to apply.
2. Bring Valid Identification | Photo ID: Passport, driver’s license, or other government-issued ID showing your full name and date of birth.
3. Fill Out the Marriage License Application | You can fill out the application form online in advance at Monterey County Clerk’s Website. If you prefer, you can complete it in person.
4. Pay the Fee | The marriage license fee in Monterey County is $110 for a public marriage license and $105 for a confidential marriage license (prices subject to change). They accept cash, debit, or credit cards.
5. No Waiting Period | You can get married immediately after receiving your license. There's no waiting period in Monterey County, so the license is valid the moment it's issued.
6. No Blood Test or Residency Requirement | California doesn’t require blood tests, and you do not need to be a California resident.
7. Use Within 90 Days | The license is valid for up to 90 days from the issuance date.
8. After the Ceremony | After your ceremony, the officiant must return the signed marriage license to the County Clerk’s office for it to be recorded. You can request certified copies after that.
